For Professionals: Certification Consulting Training & Certification - When Your Kids Push Your Buttons Certification Training - Effective Parenting Workshop Certification Training - Certified "Buttons" Educators When Your Kids Push Your Buttons Certification Training The When Your Kids Push Your Buttons Certification Training is designed for parent educators, therapists, guidance counselors, social workers, teachers, childcare workers — anyone working with children and families. You will learn to incorporate the "Buttons" methods into your work and will be certified to teach "Buttons" workshops to parents. Now accredited by the National Association of Social Workers — receive NASW credit hours! Agenda In this two full day and two part day training, we explore concepts, theories and ideas that will help you serve and better understand the parents and children you work with. You will learn what our buttons are, where they come from, why they get pushed, and how they can be defused so they do not control our reactions to children. You will learn that it is not behavior that does the pushing but what we create in our own heads. We discuss the cognitive chain reaction model of button-pushing and then explore the layers below to understand the role of expectations, standards, and beliefs that play their role in ineffective and often harmful reactions to children's behavior. We cover the meaning beneath that behavior, what it is attempting to say, and how to respond to it effectively. The exercises are the key to personalizing the theories into our lives. You will have the opportunity to work them through individually. We will hear each other's, discuss them, and analyze them, so you will be able to facilitate them yourself. Within the dynamic of our group, you will share stories; the issues other professionals are working with and how this approach can help. Whether you incorporate the ideas and methods into your personal work or decide to teach a "Buttons" class for parents, you will be encouraged to use your own style and approach. The manual will provide you with the information you need and assist you in dealing with everyday situations you come upon in your work. Click here to Register Now! The next two days are both full days, starting at 9:00 am with light breakfast, and finishing up at 6:00 pm. We break for one hour at lunch time. The final day of the training is a shorter day, beginning at 9:00 am and ending at 2:00 pm. Day One 7:00 - 9:00pm

The Effective Parenting Workshop Certification Training The Effective Parenting Workshop (EPW), developed by Bonnie for a parent education program, is designed for parents of 1-5 year-old children. In the program, parents learn to understand their children's developmental stages and unique, individual temperament characteristics. They learn what to expect from their children's behavior and how best to communicate empathically with both preverbal and verbal children and to encourage responsibility even in very young children. Encouragement, motivation and conflict resolution are used instead of reward and punishment. Effective limits are set positively so that children are motivated to cooperate. All the skills used are designed to support self-esteem, self-confidence, and capability. Healthy boundaries are highlighted to ensure proper balance between the needs of the parent and those of the child. The professional training course for The EPW is given over 4 days with a certification option to teach the program. It includes a training manual and parent handouts. The manual includes a syllabus for a 12 week course, two 6 week courses, a 10 week course and an 8 week course. The training manual contains material for the trainers' preparation for each session plus the applicable parent handouts with each session. The beginning of the training covers the basic principles of Effective Parenting, tips for being an effective Parent Educator, and how to handle group dynamics. In addition a master copy of the parent handouts for all sessions are included for copying. The EPW is designed in two parts: Part I: Understanding Your Child: Development, Communication and Behavior
